Services To Youth

The main objective of this facet is to help youth of African ancestry discover and reach their full potential. It focuses on their concerns and well-being, while implementing programs that are responsive to the academic, cultural, health, social, career development, and mentoring needs. The Links, Incorporated offers programs that address the needs of youth from pre-school to college. We have studied and developed strategies that address the following cultural issues that relate to African American youth: urban and rural poverty, the education gap, low-standard or the absence of housing, declining health, and substance abuse.

The Services to Youth facet of the Triangle Park Chapter in conjunction with the Kramden Institute of Durham continues to sponsor computer giveaways to children in need. To date, over 2,000 refurbished computers have been provided to underserved youth from through programs in Wake, Orange, and Durham Counties. Foremost in this endeavor are the Kramden Institute, 21st Century Community Learning Center, the Department of Public Instruction, the Grape Arbor Community Development Corporation, and the Charles E. Perry Alumni Association.
